Background:
The installation of applications, updates and patches is one of the most common – and important – functions of any IT department. Yet many IT teams fail to properly prepare these software packages (setups) for deployment, resulting in rollouts that can crash mission-critical applications, slow productivity, and increase help desk costs.
Microsoft Windows Installer makes it easy to prepare reliable software packages for error-free deployment. InstallShield combines powerful software packaging technology with tools to significantly reduce your organization’s setup authoring costs and increase IT productivity.

Purpose:
Microsoft® Windows® Installer is an installation and configuration service that reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) for your customers by enabling them to efficiently install and configure your products and applications.
Windows Installer enables customers to provide better corporate deployment, and provide a standard format for component management. The Installer supports the advertisement of applications and features according to the operating system settings.

Where Applicable:
Windows Installer enables the efficient installation and configuration of your products and applications. The installer provides new capabilities to advertise features without installing them, to install products on demand, and to add user customizations.
 

Target Audience:
This workshop is intended for software developers who want to make applications that use Windows Installer. It provides general background information about installation packages and the installer service. It contains introduction of the application programming interface and elements of the installer database. This workshop contains information for developers who want to use InstallShield, a package creation tool to make or maintain an installation.

Narendra is first class Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics). He heads the technical team focused in application packaging, organize installation projects, setup creation solutions for windows and multiplatform environments. He has 6 years of industry experience and hands on experience in InstallShield, InstallAnywhere, AdminStudio, DemoShield and MSI tools. He has provided services to Kanbay, HSBC, Maerskline, Oracle, Scentric Solutions, OSI technologies, eSymbiosis, Capsilon India, Apptix, Info-Spectrum, Thomson, Wipro and many more companies.
